Useless Stuff: The Archives

At My Daughters Graduation

Yesterday I attended an event that I hadn’t expected for many years to come. Rachel our four year old daughter graduated.

We watched through tear filled eyes as she and her classmates sang a song together, and smiled as she walked onto the stage and proudly accepted her certificate.

No, we haven’t raised a child genius, and Rachel has no college or university degree. Yesterday she graduated from  nursery school.

She looked adorable on stage singing an adapted version of ‘New York New York’ that was now ‘P1, P1′. Her mortice board was perched jauntily on top of her curls, and she smiled and waved each time she caught a glimpse of me, Gerard,  or one of  her grandparents through the lights.

I barely stopped myself from crying, as it hit me once again how quickly she is growing up. I now look forward to her tap dancing show this weekend. I know I will need a box of tissues for that!

Take That Reunion Tour 2006! What A Night!

\'Take That - For The Record - Official Documentary [Digipak] I can’t believe it finally happened. I have loved Take That ever since I was 16 years of age, and now 14 years and three children later I finally got to see them live.

I spent yesterday afternoon making Take That t shirts for my sister and I and as soon as I could slip away, off I headed to the Odyssey Arena in Belfast to see the boys.

The concert was superb, even though Robbie Williams didn’t show up. I never was a huge Robbie fan anyway so the 20 foot tall hologram during ‘Could It Be Magic’ was good enough for me.

I really felt for the fans in the first few rows, no only did they get roasted alive with the fire effects during ‘Relight My Fire’, but they then got soaked by water jets during ‘Back For Good’.

My concert highlight had to be when the whole band walked down the overhead walkway to a smaller stage in the centre of the arena. That little stage happened to be right in front of our seats and I had to pinch myself in order to believe that I was actually that close to Howard Donald!

I felt like I was a teenager again, especially when my sister and I realised that the dance routines hadn’t changed, so we were able to join in with the ones we remembered. It really took me back to my younger years, when my sister got the Take That - Live At Wembley“>Take That Live At Wembley video for christmas and we spent the next week in the sitting room drooling and fighting over who was the most handsome, and worse who was the most gay. We often came to fisticuffs over the last question.

The boys didn’t look one day older, Gary Barlow’s dance skills even seem to have improved with time. I will always have a soft spot for Howard, but all the boys looked and performed brilliantly. The show went on for a full two energetic hours. The night was well worth every penny and more.

My poor kids have been subjected to my Everything Changes“>old Cds and videos all day, they will be the new generation of Take That fans! I just hope the band is indeed ‘Back For Good’!

Free Dates With Google Romance …. What A Great Idea!

You gotta hand it to google, they do have some fantastic ideas.

I just came across Google Romance and I am so sad that I am no longer single and able to “Pin All My Romantic Hopes On Google”.

If I was on the market for a soulmate, or just a fling with a hotty, Google romance would be right up my street.

Not only do the Google masters pair you with your perfect soulmate but they also pay for your date. Thats right its completely FREE!

There has to be a catch I hear you say….and there is. The catch is that you have to spend the date being advertised to. As far as marketing ploys go, it’s a great one! I personally could put up with advertisments while receiving free food, flowers, personalised thank you notes…the lot!

As far as I can see its a small price to pay for love! I think I will bookmark this site just in case hubby ever leaves me for a younger model. Not that I am wishing for it to happen. What ever gave you that idea?

The Simplest Path To Success

I just read this article ‘The Simplest Path To Success’ and thought it deserved a bit of a shout out to anyone out there felling a bit lost or unhappy.

Too often when things are going wrong, we blame everyone and everything else, afraid to address the real cause of our problems. This article made me think, I hope it does the same for you.

I Am A First Born….This Must Use Magic!

You Are Likely a First Born
At your darkest moments, you feel guilty.
At work and school, you do best when you’re researching.
When you love someone, you tend to agree with them often.

In friendship, you are considerate and compromising.
Your ideal careers are: business, research, counseling, promotion, and speaking.
You will leave your mark on the world with discoveries, new information, and teaching people to dream.

Cool, I didn’t expect this to work. Dunno about teaching people to dream though. I can’t even remember mine when I wake up! LOL!

Owwwww My Legs hurt!

I attended my first aqua aerobics class tonight. Its part of my new healthy lifestyle, though I probably shouldn’t have had the chinese takeaway afterwards.

The class was easy enough for the first 20 minutes, then the real work began.

I may not post anything on the blog tomorrow, my legs will probably be too sore to make it up the stairs to the pc!

Wasted A Whole Evening On Google Idol!

Hubby and I spent the day (and most of the night!) at a friends wedding yesterday. Needless to say, we didn’t get much sleep and definately drank too much. Feeling much the worse for wear I swore that when I came onto my pc tonight I would just do the essential stuff then switch it off and have an early night. As if!

While checking my google alerts I came across a link to the Google idol site. Being a huge X Factor and American idol fan I was immediately hooked.

Basically the idea is that people have recorded themselves (and their friends) lip synching to a song of their choice and submitted it to the Google idol competition via Google Video.

The videos are then judged by a panel and voted on by the public. The competiton is in its semi final stages at the minute.

Some of the videos are absolutely hilarious! I especially loved Pomme & Kelly performing “Respect” by Aretha Franklin and Anthony & Katy doing “Since you been gone” by Kelly Clarkson. I’m not the sort of person who laughs out loud at TV shows and the like but this had me rolling about the floor. I spent the evening choosing my favourites then making hubby watch them all again with me, then trawling the web for more information.

I even toyed with the idea of doing my own video, but deep in my heart I realise that I am just not funny enough. I can’t wait to see who wins and then the competition will begin all over again!
