I mentioned yesterday that we intended to take Jake out of night nappies last night and how much I dreaded the prospect.
Before going to bed last night, Gerard and I put Jake on the toilet one last time. I fully expected to have to change the bedclothes at least once if not twice during the night. I was dreading the midnight wail, and the subsequent running about in the dark looking for clean sheets and blankets.
Imagine my surprise at 6.40am when Jake called me and I found him standing at his bedroom door completely dry. I checked his bed to make sure and sure enough he hadn't spilled a drip. I could have kissed him (in fact i did), the pleasant surprise even made up for having to get up so early.
So here we go with night two. I hope I can report equally good results tomorrow.

Having been through night
Having been through night training twice now, I would say that you are maybe lifting your son a bit much. His bladder has to strengthen enough to go all nioght, so lifting him every few hours won't help in the long term.
I would suggest that he gets no drinks after 6pm. Then lift him before you go to bed, or at about 11-12am. That should really be enough.
It may take time and we had good nights and bad nights with both of our ours, but in the end they learned very quickly.
Hello. I have a few
Hello. I have a few questions on night time potty training for my son. He just turned 4 and we are trying to get him trained at night. (I started appreciating diapers again!) He just wears underwear to bed. I make him go to the bathroom before bed, then around 3 am, get him up to go again, then at 5:30 when I get up for work. I guess my question is, are we supposed to wake him up fully during these times. He's pretty much sleeping as we drag him and hold him up. When does he realize to go by himself? Am I supposed to completely wake him up to go? It doesn't phase him if completely soaked, he sleeps through it. He's a deep sleeper for the most part. We tried the cooling pull ups. He didn't even notice. I went to the libary and books don't really touch up on night time training. I try to limit his water at night. I even called the Dr office and spoke to the nurse. She was going to fax me some info. When I got the fax, it was on day time. Most of my friend have girls.
Please any advice you can give would be helpful.
Thanks,
Jackie
