You Can’t Leave Them For A Second!
We got up this morning and the day started so well.
Everyone ate their breakfast without any trouble, everyone got washed and dressed without a word of protest. So when I left Ray and Jay watching the Cbeebies channel for a few minutes until I loaded the dishwasher I had no reason to think that there would be any bother, after all I was only in the other room.
While I was on my knees cleaning the gunk out of the dishwasher drain, Jay came running in exclaiming that Ray was “so gentle” and hadn’t hurt him one bit. I asked what she was doing and he dropped the bombshell…. “she’s cutting my hair”.
I ran to the living room to see strands of hair and curls littering the floor. It seemed that not only had Ray been cutting Jay’s hair, but she had also had a go at styling her own with her small safety scissors.
I gave her ‘The Look’ and she began to explain how she really wanted to be a hairdresser, and just wanted short hair like a boy. I was angry and amused all at the same time, but hid it well. I tried to explain to her how much I loved her curls, but apparently she doesn’t!
Thankfully the damage is barely noticeable, it would seem that I caught her just in time, and her hair is so curly anyway that a few shorter strands cannot be seen. I can see some spikey bits on Jays head, but he needs a haircut anyway, this will just give me the incentive to get it done sooner rather than later.
This weekend will have to be spent putting new cupboard locks on all the toy cupboards, while we’re at it we should spend some time re-childproofing the rest of the house as it looks like it won’t be too much longer before Baby D is crawling all over the place. That’s where our real trouble will begin again!
That’s pretty cute! Ray already has a career plan mapped out! : )
Hi - here from Blogging Chicks!
It could be worse. I was sitting here blogging one day and didn’t even notice that my six year old was cutting huge chunks out of my hair! Thankfully, it’s so thick I couldn’t even figure out where he’d cut it.
I haven’t had this happen so far but I can see it happening down the road. Glad there wasn’t much damage! LOL
My now 6yo cut her bangs almost gone when she was around 2. When I asked her why she did it, she said “The scissors were right there!” in such a “duh, mom” voice — it was all I could do not to laugh! She had super curly hair, too. I didn’t notice she’d done it until I found the swatch of hair on the floor! I htought she just had some new baby hair growing in. Silly me!
